Fondazione Umberto Veronesi

Talking science, nurturing research

From the initiative of our founder, oncologist Umberto Veronesi, we were born in 2003 to nurture scientific research and science communication. Several world-renowned scientists support our two core missions, including former Medicine nobel prizes John Michael Bishop and Paul Nurse We are based in Milan (Italy) and have delegations in 24 Italian cities. Our research fields are oncology, cardiovascular diseases, neuroscience and nutrigenomics. We will develop the medicine course in STEMFORYOUTH.

Make some noise

We lead all the communication of STEMFORYOUTH, and for this reason we will engage our project partners, external authorities in charge of education and potential employers of our students in a packed plan of networking events, media coverage and science communication for the public. Our key idea: science improves our life.

What we do

  • Award fellowships to young researchers and medical doctors who work on transferring research discoveries from the lab to patients.
  • International conferences about top-edge science topics
  • Public awareness campaigns
  • Projects for schools
  • Publications
  • Web-based tools to inform the public on scientific concepts

What we did

FATTI VEDERE = GET YOURSELF CHECKED

A video shared among young people to raise awareness of our body, how it functions, what are the risks of unhealthy lifestyles, and taking the habit of getting regular health checks.
NO SMOKING- BE HAPPY

What happens inside our body when we smoke? What colour do our lungs take, and how much can they work after having smoked for many years?
IO VIVO SANO = I LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE

Have you ever imagined, when you go to the supermarket, paying for your shopping with calories, nutrients and basic components of each food you buy?
